Capt Larry Peck and his fellow directors, all residents of Saturna, created SIMRES in 2012 when an economic development conference was held on the island. It quickly became an enthusiastic initiative, not only as an economic stimulus, but as an environmental advocacy group for Saturna Island and the marine ecosystem.

GreenAngels Wood Choppers

Eight years ago, Greenangels started a foundation to raise money for local charities, mostly on the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, right in the heart of the Salish Sea. What began with one man, Dave Howe, chopping wood to help out those who needed it, grew into a wonderful group of retired, dedicated men who got together a few times a week to chop and sell cords of wood to raise money for many local organizations.

OBVS - Hands-on Help in Oak Bay
